There's been talk of an Ozzy Osbourne biopic since long before the heavy metal icon's death last year. Now that project is picking up steam, with a "phenomenal actor" attached, per the Black Sabbath frontman's son Jack Osbourne.
The Ozzman biopic has been mentioned as far as back as 2010. In a couple of interviews that year Ozzy joked that Denzel Washington should play him. Last summer Variety reported that the film, which was officially announced in 2021, would focus on Ozzy and Sharon's relationship and be written by Lee Hall (Rocketman).

In an episode of the family's podcast in March 2024, Jack said the film would cover the years 1979 to 1999. Ozzy's wife and manager Sharon said she wanted Florence Pugh "or the little girl from Game Of Thrones" to play her. Jack said he wanted Bill Hader to play his dad. Ozzy didn't know who Bill Hader is, so Jack showed him a photo on his phone, to which Ozzy responded, "Fuck off!"
In a clip from Dec. 17 that's been making the rounds since it was posted to YouTube Tuesday, Jack told Billy Morrison on SiriusXM's Ozzy's Bone Yard that they're "full steam" into the next phase of development, and teased potential casting. "Sadly it's not Denzel," Jack said. "We have our decided pick, and I can't say anything, but it's a phenomenal, phenomenal actor. We have a director attached and we're doing a rewrite right now."
Jack's phrasing here is a bit vague, so it's unclear whether the family has merely identified their preferred actor or if that person has actually been cast in the role. Either way, it should be fun to see who gets the gig. Some fun names I've seen suggested: Tony Cavalero, aka Keefe from The Righteous Gemstones, who already played Ozzy in the Mötley Crüe movie The Dirt; Jack Kilmer, son of Val, who played a young Ozzy in his 2019 "Under The Graveyard" music video; Dacre Montgomery, who played Billy on Stranger Things; or Austin Butler, who famously already inhabited the role of Elvis Presley. Who else you got?
It's gonna be YUNGBLUD isn't it.
@rockglobal Her smile when he suggested it!!! ❤️ #sharonosbourne #ozzyosbourne #piercemorgan #yungblud
