Once a year, the Nelsonville Music Festival brings a thoughtfully curated collection of artists to Nelsonville, Ohio. Our own Chris DeVille was there last year, and he proclaimed that the festival "rules." Allow him to elaborate: "The way forward, as has been obvious for a while now, is smaller, more carefully curated fests — sustainable events with real personality. Nelsonville Music Festival is one of the best of them." We don't even have the full lineup for this year's edition of Nelsonville, but its lineup already includes the bands. who made Stereogum's two favorite albums of 2025.
This year, Nelsonville is entering its 20th year, and it goes down June 18-20 at Snow Fork Event Center. The fest's organizers have unveiled the first round of acts on the bill for this year's festival, and Geese and Wednesday are both on it, to which we say "hell yeah." The bill is also set to include Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band, S.G. Goodman, Big Freedia, the Altons, Mon Rovia, Thee Sinseers, Ken Pomeroy, the Animeros, Etran De L'Air, and Bertha Grateful Drag, with plenty of other names yet to be announced.
