Among the many events in Los Angeles this week leading up to Sunday's Grammys ceremony was an event honoring Pharrell Williams. Pharrell, who was just knighted in France last week, was the guest of honor at the Recording Academy Honors, presented by the academy's Black Music Collective at the Fairmont Century Plaza. Brandy and Kirk Franklin were also honored at the event, which featured Justin Timberlake's first public performance since revealing his Lyme disease diagnosis in July.
Timberlake was on hand to present Pharrell with the Dr. Dre Impact Award. According to The Hollywood Reporter, before stepping to the podium, Timberlake performed a 15-minute medley of songs Pharrell worked on, including his own hits from 2002 solo debut Justified "Señorita," "Rock Your Body," and "Like I Love You," as well as N.O.R.E's “Nothin,'” Mistikal's "Shake It Fast," Snoop Dogg's "Beautiful," and Jay-Z's "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)," wrapping up with Daft Punk's "Lucky."
Clipse and Leon Thomas also performed in Pharrell's honor. Tyler, The Creator gave a speech, too. "When I won my first Grammy, it meant so much because [he] was my teacher, my master, the person that gave me all the codes," Tyler said, per Billboard. "It finally paid off. From the bottom of my heart, from the bottom of my balls, you have been, you are and you will always be my North Star."
Kehlani, Coco Jones, and FLO performed in tribute to Brandy, who was presented with the Black Music Icon Award by Recording Academy head Harvey Mason Jr. Also receiving the Black Music Icon Award was Kirk Franklin, who performed a few of his own songs with Voices Of Fire early in the night.

Você é único (one of one)”. ? #JustinTimberlake #PharrellWilliams #Grammy2026 #RecordingAcademyHonors #blackmusiccollective
