Guess Who’s Classic Lineup Performed For The First Time In 23 Years

"American Woman" rockers the Guess Who took the stage Saturday night at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls. It was guitarist Randy Bachman and vocalist/pianist Burton Cummings' first performance under this band name since 2003. The set featured a bunch of Guess Who favorites plus hits from Bachman's post-Guess Who band Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Cummings' solo song "My Own Way To Rock."

In 2024 Cummings took aggressive legal action against his former bandmates Jim Kale and Garry Peterson, who had been touring as the Guess Who, to reclaim the band name and head out on the road with Bachman. After suing Kale and Peterson, Cummings ended the performance rights agreements on his songs, thereby making it impossible for the other Guess Who guys to legally perform them.

"I’m willing to do anything to stop the fake band; they’re taking [Bachman and my] life story and pretending it’s theirs," Cummings told Rolling Stone at the time. "They’re not the people who made these records, and they shouldn’t act like they did. This doesn’t stop this cover band from playing their shows; it just stops them from playing the songs I wrote. If the songs are performed by the fake Guess Who, they will be sued for every occurrence."

The Cummings and Bachman version of the Guess Who has a Canadian tour scheduled for this summer starting May 26 in Moncton, NB. For a sense of what they'll be performing, check out Saturday night's setlist below via setlist.fm.
