Just a couple of weeks ago Kathryn Mohr released her dark, brooding debut album Waiting Room, and she already has another one coming soon. Today she's announced her sophomore LP Carve, which she's teasing with the lead single "Property."
Mohr spent five years writing Carve, which she recorded over the course of two weeks in a "western-themed jail Airbnb" in the Mojave Desert. The album centers around "how intimacy feels after years of isolation" and the inevitability of grief in love.
You can feel that sense of isolation in the gothic ambiance of "Property," which is built on little more than Mohr's layered vocals and one funereal-sounding electric guitar: "A long drive ahead and nothing better to forget/ Cut up and cuddled up and leaking/ Metal towers get up start a-walking/ Crows carry slivers of feeling." Listen to "Property" and see the full album tracklist below.
