After a difficult time for the band, Canadian power-pop OGs the New Pornographers are about to come back with the new album called The Former Site Of. This time around, the band consists of AC Newman, Kathryn Calder, Neko Case, John Collins, and Todd Fancey, working with veteran session drummer Charley Drayton. We already posted lead single "Votive," and now the band has followed that one with another track called "Pure Sticker Shock."
"Pure Sticker Shock" is a bubbly synthpop jam about crippling self-doubt, and it really takes advantage of having all those great singers in the band. In a press release, AC Newman says, "This song is not about a specific event, but it has felt very 'applicable' to me and this year of my life. It basically asks the question 'What has worth? Who is deciding?' Your market value is not always your value." Check it out below.
The Former Site Of is out 3/27 on Merge.
