California musician Tim Presley has been making music for a long time. Did you know he had a stint in the Fall? I just read that. Presley was also in the Nerve Agents and Darker My Love, and he's made a whole lot of psychedelic guitar rock under the name White Fence. For a while now, that alter-ego has been inactive. The last White Fence album was called I Have To Feed Larry's Hawk, and it came out back in 2019. But now, White Fence is set to return with a new LP called Orange, and Presley recorded it with longtime collaborator Ty Segall.
Ty Segall produced Orange in his Harmonizer II studio, and he also plays drums on most of the album. A couple of songs have Dylan Hadley on drums, and Alice Sandahl adds keyboards. Here's Tim Presley's press-release quote about the LP:
Love/loss, addiction/rehabilitation, and a good long look in the mirror (by way of a shop window reflection in San Francisco).
But also the absurdity of life..... I wanted to sing my little heart out. Sing life.
Lead single "Your Eyes" is a simple, direct, groovy rocker. It's got a great hip-shake shimmy to it, and it doesn't have any of the more indulgent tendencies that I sometimes associate with White Fence. Below, check out the "Your Eyes" video and the Orange tracklist.
