Sooner or later, you will have to form an opinion on Fcukers, the hedonistic and shameless dance-adjacent New York duo whose name has become synonymous with the term "indie sleaze." Maybe you already have an opinion. If you're enjoying that opinion, then go ahead, hold onto it. But if you're still figuring it out, or if you already like them, then allow me to suggest listening to their fun, sticky new single "Beatback."
"Beatback" is the opening track on Fcukers incoming debut album Ö. The duo recorded with Kenneth Blume, the Geese producer formerly known as Kenny Beats, and it's got additional production from 100 gecs' Dylan Brady. We posted lead single "L.U.C.K.Y.," and I'm already visualizing the ways the festival crowds are going to react to "Beatback."
The "Beatback" title comes from the phrase that Shanny Wise whisper-chants over and over on the track: "Yo, run the beat back, I wanna hear that." Wise makes that phrase about as sleepy and sexy as she can, and it meshes nicely with the bouncy bassline and the uber-cheap Daft Punk-style synth-guitars. Wise also directed the "Beatback" video, a single static, fuzzy surveillance-style shot of dancer Eric Schloesser getting down. You'll find it below.
Ö is out 3/27 on Ninja Tune.
