Don't be surprised if this one wins a Grammy.
R&B singer-songwriter Victoria Monét emerged from a primarily behind-the-scenes role to become a genuine star with 2023's Jaguar II. The album spawned a hit with "On My Mama" and led to Monét winning Best New Artist at the 2024 Grammys. She's since released a deluxe edition of the album and, sure, why not, a Christmas version. Now it seems like a new album cycle is beginning.
Monét is one of the openers on Bruno Mars' summer stadium tour, and she has a new single out today. "Let Me" is a lush, gliding R&B slow jam that sounds built to dominate whatever remains of urban radio. I'm impressed to hear her leading with a ballad rather than beating us over the head with something louder, and I wouldn't mind hearing this incessantly for the next couple years.
Camper produced "Let Me" with assists from Jeff "Gitty” Gitelman, Branden "B Mack" Rowell, and Cashmere Brown. Listen below.
"Let Me" is out now via Lovett Music/RCA Records.
