Chvrches leader Lauren Mayberry released her solo debut Vicious Creature in 2024. More recently, Chvches have been back together and working on new music, and they just covered Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love" for the Hulu show Tell Me Lies. Now, Mayberry is joining a fellow Scottish indie band on a fun, anthemic new single.
Glasgow's Lucia & The Best Boys released their debut album Burning Castles in 2023, and their new single "Lonely Girl" is the first thing that they've released in a few years. It's got lots of keyboards and guitars and big melodies, and I bet it'll kill at festivals. Lauren Mayberry jumps on board for the second verse, and she sounds right at home next to frontwoman Lucia Fairfull
In a press release, Mayberry says, "Lucia has such a singular vision and really knows what she wants to create, and that’s a really inspiring energy to be around. Plus for once I didn’t have to alter my accent to blend in with another singer — our Celtic vowel sounds were perfectly aligned." Eubha Akilade directed the "Lonely Girl" video, which tells a genuinely heartwarming story about the transportive power of friendship. Check it out below.
