"Miss You," the new collaboration from London vocalist Ms Ray and Baltimore phenom Nourished By Time, is a pure delight. The percussion glistens. Highlighter synths dart in the background. The ping-ponging beat provides some sort of neurological massage. But sadness lurks amongst the song's brightness. "Oh, I miss You," Ms Ray's vocals float during the chorus. "And as time rolls on and on/ It's still sad." It's the first glimpse of Ms Ray's forthcoming EP Melt, out next month.
In a press release, Ms Ray says:
Once the lyrics and melody came, I knew immediately that it needed to be a duet, and Marcus (Nourished By Time) was the number one person I wanted to ask, there was no other option in my mind. I really love duets between male and female voices in particular, the way voices come together. As soon as I listened to the vocals Marcus sent I realised that he’d lyrically, melodically and harmonically elevated the track to be something even better.
Everybody misses somebody. For me, writing and singing this track was really cathartic. An antidote to the pain that accompanies loss.
