The young UK band 1000 Rabbits come from the small coastal town of Aldeburgh, but now they live in London, and they're the newest act on the esteemed Young roster. The five-piece band, formerly known as Rabbitfoot, combines violin and synthesizer with your usual guitar-bass-drums configuration, and they became part of the storied scene at Brixton's Windmill club shortly after moving to London. After honing their style by playing a bunch of live shows, they've shared "Virgin Soil," their first official single.
"Virgin Soil" is a cool, playful art-pop tune that gradually builds to a howling, explosive post-punk finale. 1000 Rabbits been playing the song live for a while, and you can tell that they've honed it. In a press release, the band says, "'Virgin Soil' represents the band’s beginnings - experimenting together and making music with no rules. It feels right as our first track out in the world."
