Rosenau & Sanborn Announce New Collaborative Album Two: Hear “Walrus”

Chris Rosenau is a musician who's been working since the '90s and who's been in bands like Collections Of Colonies Of Bees and Volcano Choir. Nick Sanborn is the non-singing half of Sylvan Esso, and he's been in groups like Megafaun and Made Of Oak. At the Eaux Claires Festival in 2015, Rosenau and Sanborn got together to play an improv set, and they occasionally reunite to make more album. In 2019, Rosenau and Sanborn released Bluebird, their first album as a duo. Now, they've got another one on the way.

After a few scrapped attempts at recording a follow-up, Rosenau finally went to Sanborn's North Carolina studio without much planned, and the resulting LP Two comes out next week. Lead single "Walrus" is a skittering, exploratory instrumental recorded the night after Sanborn played a rave DJ set. Here's what Rosenau says about it:

Honestly, the approach on this track was "OK! Saturday night… Let's party!" It all felt real good. From there, we got Nick's gear back up from the night before, followed our process, and went for it. I remember Nick turning into an octopus in front of my eyes as he wrangled both the modular rig he had set up for this one, as well as the insane drum machine situation.
