Guatemalan-born, Montreal-based Santiago Castillo releases indie-electronic music under the name Hockitay. New single "over/over" is our first preview of a forthcoming EP. In a recent interview with The Line Of Best Fit, he says this tune is designed for winter, so if you're snowed in on the East Coast today, you might want to queue it up. In that chat, he also cites James Blake, Sampha, King Krule, and Bon Iver as core influences, and he makes his music with long commutes on public transportation in mind.
All of that checks out upon hearing "over/over," a woozy mumble of a song that seems to exist in the space between sleep and waking. "I haven’t had an opinion since high school," Hockitay sings in his peculiar croon. "I wear the jersey, but I’ve never seen them play." Submerge yourself in amniotic post-rock below.
