UK rockers Hard-Fi had a big run in the '00s; their first two albums both went to #1 in their homeland. The band went on hiatus in 2014, and they came back to tour the UK in 2023. In 2024, they dropped an EP called Don’t Go Making Plans. Now, they've announced their first new album since 2011's Killer Sounds, and it has some truly unpleasant cover art. Clearly, someone did not learn the "don't put mosquitos on your album cover" lesson from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Hard-Fi's upcoming LP is called Sweating Someone Else's Fever, and frontman Richard Archer co-produced it with Wolsey White. It's got appearances from Colombian MC Mike Kalle and stage actress Krysten Cummings. Lead single "They Ain't Your Friends" is a disco-rock track about music-industry hanger-on types. Archer says, "At the beginning, you could get out there, and it was a meritocracy, whereas now it's basically back to patronage where you have to suck up to the guy who'll give you some money to write a waltz for his ball." That explains the mosquito, anyway. Check out that song and the Sweating Someone Else's Fever tracklist below.
