The New Hampshire producer Maya Bouldry-Morrison has been crafting house tracks under the name Octo Octa since 2011, and she'll release her new album Sigils For Survival this spring. The LP is Octo Octa's first since 2019's Resonant Body, and it marks a full decade since she came out as transgender. She drew a sigil for each of the album's eight tracks, and her artist sister Hope Morrison incorporated all those sigils into painting sthat appear in the album's artwork.
In a press release, Octo Octa says, "As an autobiographical artist, I set out to write an album that would be a milestone for this past decade of joy and sorrow. Sigils For Survival is my attempt to encapsulate the intentions and techniques that I used to move through life into a spell." Lead single "Survival Groove" is a playful, bouncy house track that lasts for exactly ten minutes and zero seconds. Check out "Survival Groove" and the Sigils For Survival tracklist below.
