"Montreal is the most exciting place for indie rock," Barbie Ferreira says in the official trailer for Mile End Kicks as MGMT's "Time To Pretend" plays in the background. The Euphoria actor stars in writer/director Chandler Levack's upcoming rom-com about a young music critic who gets romantically entangled with members of a DIY band whom she also decides to interview for work. (They specifically tell you not to do that when you get into this business, but oh well.) Judging by the preview, Mile End Kicks feels a lot like a millennial Almost Famous, and the trailer's got all the era-appropriate tokens: A Mac Demarco poster! A Chuck Klosterman book! MacBook webcams!
Mile End Kicks also stars Devon Bostick and Jay Baruchel. See the trailer below.
Mile End Kicks premieres in theaters 4/17 via Sumerian.
