Koyo, Long Island hardcore guys who make fired-up and hooky emo, have a new album called Barely Here coming out this spring. Drain's Sammy Ciaramitaro and Fleshwater's Marisa Shirar make appearances, and we've already posted the very fun lead single "Irreversible." Today, Koyo drop another track on us.
The new Koyo song "What I'm Worth" has a lot of soaring melodic punch to it, but there's no euphoria here. Instead, it's pissed off and disillusioned. If I'm interpreting the song right, frontman Joey Chiaramonte's lyrics are about the shitty things that happen when you start working as a full-time musician: "Heaven sent with my closest friends/ In a game where no one wins in the end/ How am I supposed to know?/ Every choice seems so unconscionable." Here's the sunset-drunk video from director Eric Richter.
Barely Here is out 5/8 on Pure Noise.
