Next month, the giddy Albany pop-punk crew Prince Daddy & The Hyena will release their new album Hotwire Trip Switch. They recorded it with their longtime producer Joe Reinhart, a member of Hop Along and Algernon Cadwallader, and they're calling it their "singles" record. Lead single "Big-Box Store Heart" is indeed extremely catchy, and now they've shared the album's energy-rush opener.
The latest Prince Daddy track has the catchy, memorable title "24-03-04_Birthday_B4." Frontman Kory Gregory says that he wrote the song on his "best birthday ever." He could've just called it that, but no, he called it "24-03-04_Birthday_B4." It's a fast, euphoric, and almost jarringly energetic sprint of a track. I honestly was not ready for this level of joyous adrenaline at this hour of the morning, but maybe you'll turn out to be more resilient than me. Hear it below.
Hotwire Trip Switch is out 4/17 on Counter Intuitive.
