London's Modern Woman are releasing their new album Johnny's Dreamworld at the beginning of May. They've already shared "Neptune Girl" and "Dashboard Mary." Today, they've dropped the third single "Daniel" with a video by Joel Kerr.
The prior singles have an anthemic push to them, where as "Daniel" is a more subdued. It's a quiet moment, but that doesn't make it any less moving. The vocals from frontleader Sophie Harris are beautiful and eerie. They're like long, silky tentacles. It's particularly gripping when she sings: "I saw him swimming from the rocks/ And I thought then/ That I could raise the dead." Chills!
“I wrote this in North Wales a long time ago," Harris said. "It’s a simple song. I hope it captures some sort of spirit-feeling. I was camping near a lake we used to go to all the time as a kid when I wrote it.”

Johnny's Dreamworld is out 5/1 on One Little Independent Records. Pre-order it here.
