“Bazooka” Meme Rapper Finally Acknowledges William H. Macy Co-Sign

Miami XO released "Bazooka" in the final days of 2025, and it's pretty clearly the meme rap song of 2026 so far. Produced by fellow unknown Slxwly, the independently released trap single lasts less than two minutes and gets to the point pretty quickly:

Rest in peace my granny, she got hit by a bazooka
Yeah, I think about her every time I hit the hookah
Kaboom, kablaow, kaboom

A couple of days into the new year, Miami XO shared a no-budget music video. It's the rapper and his friends hanging out and holding up printouts of the single's cover art — an AI slop dove with a granny head.

A follow-up track, "Granny Lore," explained why the old lady got zooked out. Apparently she killed a kid in a hit-and-run, and his cousin saved up for a bazooka to enact revenge.

Miami dropped a "Bazooka" remix with meme rap pioneer Yuno Miles, and a lilspacey-produced "sequel" track.

In an interview with podcaster Luhsyke last month, Miami XO was asked about his inspiration for "Bazooka." "I really didn't have any, like, inspiration," he revealed.

The New York Times' Popcast named it a Song Of The Week last month. "I actually think everybody's seeing it as therapy," Jon Caramanica concluded.

"Bazooka" went super viral last week, but like Caramanica, a few notable personalities were ahead of the curve. Here's Wiz Khalifa on Twitch earlier this month, singing the hook and cracking himself up.

On March 14 actor Academy Award-nominated actor William H. Macy followed up a memorable role in Train Dreams by discussing "Bazooka" in a Page Six social video alongside his 25-year-old actress daughter Sophia at SXSW. The outlet asked the Brian costars what they're listening to. "There's something that's gone viral," said William. "Granny got killed with a bazooka? It's in my head. I can't…"

"Grandma got run over by a reindeer?" a confused Sophia asked.

"Close, but no," he responded. "She got killed by a bazooka. I think about her in the kitchen when I use the hookah."

Macy is a musician too — he plays ukulele in his musical variety show Bill's Room in Basalt, Colorado. You may also remember his daughter. Macy’s wife, fellow actress Felicity Huffman, once pleaded guilty to paying an SAT proctor to inflate Sophia's test score. Huffman served jail time for it.

Moving on...

Earlier this month the White House used "Bazooka" with war footage in a social post. That usually means a meme is cooked, but this one's got legs. For example, since then there have been a couple of funerals for Granny in Roblox. At the first one earlier this month, players were able to earn a "sympathy flower bazooka.” There were reports of a crypto rug pull, but Miami XO has denied it. Another Roblox funeral was held over the weekend in the Steal A Brainrot game. Here's a chaotic recap.

The other day Miami XO finally acknowledged the Macys' video, writing, "this is crazy." "Alright, I made the song," he said in the accompanying video shot in his TRX. "I'm Miami XO. Like, that's me."

"But look," he continued, showing a bazooka laid across the back seats. ("FBI IT'S A PROP," he noted in the Shorts title.) "I might start using my real bazooka to like… yeah. If y'all don't start tagging me. I'm finna start blowing motherfuckers up."

Beware: Miami XO's got a list of names of people who aren't tagging him. It's unclear where Miami XO lives or if Miami XO is his birth name, but he's been making music for six years.

Hopefully he's getting paid now and can afford human-generated cover art for his next single. Miami XO will perform "Bazooka" live for the first time next month in Boone, NC.

I like the song, but ask me again in two weeks. R.I.P. Granny.
