Last month Zoh Amba signed to Matador as a singer-songwriter after playing as a free jazz saxophonist for years. Now the musician is announcing their new album Eyes Full, and the lead single "Another Time" is here today.
After years of being a part of the New York avant-garde scene, Amba is returning to Tennessee, where they were raised, and diving headfirst into Appalachian folk music. Eyes Full was tracked live at Asheville's Drop of Sun Studios, an hour from Amba's hometown, with no overdubs. It has Kevin Hyland on electric guitar and Jim White on drums.
"I hope these songs touch people’s hearts," Amba says. "They’re about people who really need to be seen and heard."
