Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds Announce 2026 Tour Dates

Sturgill Simpson and his longtime band have been having themselves a year. The group, now going by the name Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds, announced the physical-only release of their sex-crazed protest album Mutiny After Midnight with a manifesto of sorts, then leaked it to YouTube a week and a half before release. (The album has since been removed from YouTube, though Simpson says it will be on streaming services eventually.) Mutiny After Midnight debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200, a career best for Simpson, without any streaming to juice his sales figures. Now they're taking this show back on the road.

The Mutiny For The Masses Tour will keep Simpson and friends on the road throughout September and October. I'll kick off on Labor Day weekend in Austin and wrap up just before Halloween in Lexington. Presales begin a week from today, on Wednesday, April 8 at 10 a.m. local time, with general onsale beginning Friday, April 10 at 10 a.m. local time. The tour will be using Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange and AXS Resale to allow fans to sell their ticket to other fans at the original price paid. Tickets will be Mobile ID only and restricted from transfer (except in states where not applicable by law).

In his note to fans announcing the new album, Simpson wrote this about the Dark Clouds' live show:

Touring behind 'Mutiny' is something we greatly look forward to. Something we will cherish. Just as I have come to see and harness my own neurodivergence and the weaponized autism of our collective members as a superpower in the studio—the same is true live. We're going out to play arenas and theaters with a vengeance. No opening act. We're going to take every minute the venue gives us. We're gonna rock this Mutiny as hard as humanly possible. It is our privilege and our honor because our fans deserve it.

Indeed, there will be no opener on this tour. Check out the dates below.
