Pet Shop Boys Play Only Live Debuts And Rarities At “Obscure” Residency Opener

Last night Pet Shop Boys kicked off a five-night run at London's Electric Ballroom. They're calling the residency "Obscure Pet Shop Boys," promising no hits. The setlist was obscure, indeed, composed entirely of live debuts and rarities dating all the way back to their 1986 debut album Please through 2024's Nonetheless.

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe did 23 songs total, closing with "A Dream Of A Better Tomorrow" from their upcoming musical Naked. Frequent Pet Shop Boys collaborator Sylvia Mason‐James joined them for "Happiness Is An Option," "The Theatre," and "One In A Million/Mr. Vain," all of which they hadn't performed in over 25 years.
