Last month DJ Seinfeld announced his new album If This Is It, which is not a lo-fi house Strokes covers record but should be. The vocals on today's new single "Everything U" are not in the Casablancosphere, but they do remind me of a distinctive singer by the name of Abel Tesfaye. Even when he was working with Daft Punk, though, the Weeknd never delved into anything quite as brisk, uptempo, and warmly computerized as what Armand Jakobsson provides here.
Some words from the man himself:
I wrote "Everything U" more or less in a couple of hours. I'm not really sure how people will react to it but it captures the nostalgia and dancefloor elements of the album. It just came impulsively.
