Liam Gallagher Reacts To Oasis’ Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction News

Despite Liam Gallagher's best efforts, Oasis are going into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Last night, Ryan Seacrest and Lionel Richie announced this year's class of Hall Of Fame inductees on American Idol. Oasis, on their third nomination, are among that number. In one of his extremely entertaining Twitter moments in 2024, first-time nominee Liam Gallagher expressed some reservations about the idea of the Hall Of Fame. Specifically, he wrote, "Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS LG x."

At the time, Gallagher went on to describe the Hall Of Fame as "all a load of bollox" and to claim that he "don’t need some wank award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat." A year later, Gallagher repeated variations on those points. But when one fan asked Gallagher whether he would attend his own induction, he gave a wonderful answer.

Now, Gallagher and his band are officially about to become Hall Of Famers, so Gallagher celebrated by tweeting a bunch of funny shit last night. His initial reaction: Oasis made the cut this year because of "reverse psychology vibes." (This honestly seems basically correct.)

Gallagher also seems to be genuinely happy about it, or else perhaps he's sarcastically making fun of the type of person who would be genuinely happy about it. Always hard to tell with this guy! I think he means it, though.

Gallagher also had a bunch of funny replies to his fans. Please enjoy some highlights below.

He's a professional! Other inductees have had reactions, too, though none of them have been that funny. Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, another figure who was nominated several times before winning induction, expressed similar skepticism about the Hall Of Fame in the past. Back in 2023, Dickinson, much like Gallagher, dismissed the Hall Of Fame as "an utter and complete load of bollocks." Much like Gallagher, Maiden have changed their tune. In an Instagram statement, the band says, "Iron Maiden have always been about our relationship with our fans above anything else, including awards and industry accolades. However, having said that, it’s always nice to be recognised and honoured for any achievements within the music industry too!"

Phil Collins, already a Hall Of Famer as a member of Genesis, is now being inducted as a solo artist. In his own Instagram statement, Collins says, "Obviously I’m pleased and honored to be inducted. It wraps up what has been a wonderful life in music. Of the Wu-Tang Clan's induction, RZA says, "In all Humility. This announcement filled me with joy, proudness, profound achievement , and awe."

Oasis' fellow Manchester bands Joy Division and New Order are finally being inducted as a single unit, and former bassist Peter Hook posted an Instagram video, saying that he's "wonderfully pleased... I've been looking forward to it for years." He continued, "I'd like to say that this is for Ian Curtis and for all our fans of both bands." In the video, he wore an Oasis shirt.
