Graham Coxon Releasing Shelved 15-Year-Old Album Castle Park: Hear “Billy Says”

In 2011, between the release of his albums The Spinning Top (2009) and A+E (2012), Blur guitarist Graham Coxon recorded another LP called Castle Park. Coxon never released Castle Park, but 15 years later, it's coming off the shelf. The previously unreleased project will drop in June, kicking off what's billed as a "comprehensive reissue" of Coxon's solo catalog. Reissues of The Sky Is Too High (1998) and The Golden D (2000) will be out the same day.

Castle Park was recorded with producer Ben Hillier (who also did Blur's Think Tank) during the sessions for A+E and was originally intended as a follow-up release. But Blur reunion activities in 2012 pushed the album back, and ultimately Coxon moved on to other projects. Its 10 tracks reportedly "lean into the artist’s classic mod sound," which is evident on the extremely Britpop opener and lead single "Billy Says," a tune Coxon has been performing live for years.
