Over the weekend, the Strokes ended their Coachella set with a video condemning US actions in Iran and Gaza. Today, frontman Julian Casablancas appeared on the newest episode of SubwayTakes and used the opportunity to call out American Zionists.
In the uncut version on YouTube, Kareem Rahma asked for the singer's most controversial take. "American Zionists get the benefits of white privileged people but talk like they are Black people during slavery," Casablancas answered.
He added, "Just for the people that are going to be like, 'Hamas, October 7th.' Yes, bad. But Native American rebellions didn't mean it was okay to do what we did. Slave rebellions that were violent didn't mean that slavery is not bad. So, that's the scope of that answer. Just for the haters."
"Indoctrination is such a strong thing. We just want to be part of the tribe," he continued. "So I get it, but it is a sad fact the brainwashing of just people in general. You can't be mad just because something was rammed down their throat, necessarily."
His other hot takes were that people have to stop sending long audio text messages, modern cars are the worst, and conservatives and progressives need to come together to "do a non-corporate consensus populist party to fight the real billionaire gang agenda."
