This year marks a decade since Jilian Medford released the debut IAN SWEET album, Shapeshifter. The indie darling's output has remained consistent since then, and 2023's SUCKER was the latest. Now, she's announcing Shiverstruck, out in July. The smitten lead single "Criminal Kissing" is a riot.
"'Criminal Kissing' is a love letter to making bad decisions," Medford explains. "Like hooking up with your ex even though you’ll be left emotionally unraveling and picking up the pieces afterwards. Sometimes you just have to lean into the chaos spiral and see where it leads you."
Medford worked with producer Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Soccer Mommy) at Maze Studios in Atlanta. "It was the hardest I've worked and ruminated on lyrics," Medford says about the record. "The writing was the heart of everything and had to feel really grounded. I put in crazy amounts of time and energy to make them feel like the truest reflection of who I am and where I'm at in my life right now."
She's also announcing a North American tour in addition to her already announced opening slots for American Football. Check out the dates below along with "Criminal Kissing."
