Taylor Kirk, singer for the Canadian indie band Timber Timbre, has passed away. According to Exclaim!, a Kirk representative confirms that he died "suddenly" last week. No cause of death has been reported. Kirk was 44.
Timber Timbre, whose members were based in Toronto and Montreal, made a stark, haunted form of indie rock that was influenced by old folk and blues. Kirk sang in a high, warble that sounded mystical even when his band was at its funkiest. Timber Timbre first found an audience with their 2009 self-titled album. They signed to Arts & Crafts, where they collaborated with Feist and released several albums that got Polaris Prize nominations. Their last album 2023's Lovage.
