Hew are announcing their debut LP today, but they're no rookies. The Houston emo band features Lindsay Minton (vocals/guitar) and Mercy Harper (bass VI), both from the longstanding combo Football, etc., here joined by Amador "Moe" Lerma (drums) and Kris Hoffman (bass). Their first album, Your Version, is coming in July on Tiny Engines, and its title track is out now.
The label helpfully directs us to Lemuria and Sweet Pill as points of comparison. If you have a taste for pensive melodic rock epics with spindly-not-noodly guitars, a gritty rhythm section, and brightly beaming earnest hooks that sometimes bloom into yearning harmonies, "Your Version" might be your version of a good time.
