Ed Askew’s Posthumous Album The Final Painting Announced: Hear “Gray Air-o-Plane” (Feat. Sharon Van Etten)

It's been more than a year since the death of psych-folk cult favorite Ed Askew. Before he died, Askew made one more album, which is coming out on Drag City this summer.

The Final Painting features contributions from Bill Callahan, William Tyler, Ryan Jewell, Eve Searls, and more. Jerry David DeCicca, who produced Askew's 2013 comeback album For The World, produced this one too. DeCicca captured recordings of Askew in his home, which were fleshed out at sessions in Nashville engineered by Trevor Nikrant from the Styrofoam Winos/Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band, who also mixed the album. There's also a guest appearance from For The World alum Sharon Van Etten on lead single "Gray Air-o-Plane," out today.

Experience the fragile beauty of "Gray Air-o-Plane" below.
