Aleshea Harris initially wrote IS GOD IS as a stage play that premiered in 2018. Since then, it's been adapted into her feature directorial debut, which premiered last Friday. Meanwhile, art-pop artist Moses Sumney dabbled in acting, playing supporting roles in projects like Ti West's MaXXXine and the Weeknd's HBO series The Idol. Lately, Sumney has been combining his musician side and his actor side, singing in last year's Shakespeare In The Park adaptation of Twelfth Night. Now, Sumney is going behind the scenes, having scored the IS GOD IS soundtrack.
Out this Friday, the IS GOD IS soundtrack was composed by Sumney and Joseph Shirley (Creed III, The Mandalorian). As a preview, today they're sharing "Sins Of The Father," which features guest vocals from the folk-inclined singer-songwriter Kara Jackson and sets the tone for the film's Southern Gothic atmosphere.
