At a recent New York dinner party, two famous people crossed paths, and things could've gone quite badly. Chances are that you recognize Azealia Banks, the New York dance-rapper who's probably more famous now for talking reckless shit online than for making music. (The last time she was on this website, it was for getting dropped from last year's Milkshake Festival over various offensive things she'd said about the queer community.)
If you're like me, you might not have known about the 77-year-old social media star Judy Jupiter. She got famous for stumbling across Sabrina Carpenter two years ago and being annoying about it. She never knows who anyone is; she just sticks a camera in young people's faces and asks them questions. When Jupiter did this to Banks, Banks didn't like it.
In a video that Jupiter posted earlier this week, we see her running up on Azealia Banks at what Complex calls "a dinner for members-only dining experience Comunal in New York." Jupiter asked the visibly uncomfortable star a bunch of questions. Banks, looking both befuddled and annoyed, remained composed while shooting fire out of her eyes, and she ultimately asked Jupiter to stop filming her. The interaction went viral because it's a crossover of two people who might be terrible and also because of Banks' chilly reaction to Jupiter.

In a video that she posted on Instagram last night, Banks felt the need to explain why she did not punch this old lady in the face: "Y'all are making up scenarios of shit that is not even happening. You're like, 'All that talk online! All that talk online, but when you see her in person!' Bitch, that is somebody's fuckin' grandma!" She did, however, admit that things could've gone differently: "I would punch a bitch in the face. Like, I will punch somebody in their fuckin' face. And I felt myself getting to that point. I was like, 'I'm in a bad mood now. You turn this camera off 'cause if you keep going, I might punch you in your face.' But you see? Like, I have poise!"
Incidentally, in Jupiter's video, Banks was hanging with another controversial figure, the right-wing adjacent, detransitioned former model and musician Miles Yardley, seen wearing a SOPHIE shirt.
