California combo Credit Electric operate by a credo that doubles as instructions for the listener: "Help us help you become the air." Last summer they released the brilliantly trippy album SALVATION, a low-key singer-songwriter album that doubled as bleary, blown-out psychedelia, like Lambchop for the Los Thuthanaka era. They're following it up today with a remarkable new single.
Like so many great Credit Electric tracks, "We'll All Laugh About It Later" feels elegant, downcast, and drowsy, yet it's arranged and mixed in a way that brings Jeanne Oss' saxophone and Evan Hiller's pedal steel to the forefront, like hallucinations forcing their way into your field of vision. Ryan LoPilato's low, mumbly delivery suggests that anyone who enjoyed last year's Friendship album as much as me will probably love this too. It's not as surreal as SALVATION, but it may be even more powerful.
