Death Cab For Cutie Share “Stone Over Water,” Rock “Riptides” On Kimmel

At the end of this week Death Cab For Cutie will release I Built You A Tower. It's their first album for new label home Anti, which means it's their first album on an indie label since Transatlanticism in 2003. The group has dropped two promising singles so far, "Riptides" and "Punching The Flowers," and today we get one more.

Whereas the prior singles were noisy, hard-edged rock tracks that represent the more aggressive side of the Death Cab sound, the new "Stone Over Water" is more of a pop song, sensitive and pretty. I can easily imagine it appearing on The Photo Album. "If you’ve ever had to try and convince yourself and everyone around you that you’re ok when you are most definitely not, this song is for you," the band writes on their socials. "Be kind to yourselves out there."

Monday night, Death Cab were on Kimmel performing "Riptides," and tonight they'll perform the whole new album at a phone-free show at Sid The Cat Auditorium in Pasadena. Below, check out "Stone Over Water" and the Kimmel performance.

I Built You A Tower is out 6/5 on ANTI-, and we'll have some more Death Cab content for you before then.
