Bedouine – “One Thing Right”

We are mere hours from Neon Summer Skin, the first new Bedouine album in five years. That's fantastic news. Azniv Korkejian further ramped up our excitement with the excellent singles "Long Way To Fall," "Always On Time," and "Canopies." This week she gave us one last preview.

Final advance track "One Thing Right" is a breezy love song about feeling out of sorts but at least having someone to navigate this life with you. "Lately I don't have my head on straight/ Typically the thing that people love or hate, I don't," Korkejian sings. However, "It's you/ I'm doing one thing right."

We're told Todd Rundgren, Karen Carpenter, and Carole King were key influences on the new LP, and you can hear those soft, sunlit '70s vibes all over this song's backing track, not least of all in the flute that flutters around the mix. It's extremely winsome — a quality amplified by Dre Babinski's music video, in which Korkejian playfully dances around a messy recording studio, letting her charisma carry the day.
