The world is a beautiful place. Hopefully, we can all agree on that, whether or not we continue to fear the cold embrace of death. But when a couple of brands feel free to completely bite the instantly recognizable artwork from a much-beloved underground album, the world feels that much less beautiful.
Over the past several years, the sports apparel brand Salomon teamed up with the Broken Arm, a fashion boutique in Paris, on mountaineering collaborations. Their latest drop was announced today for a June 16 release. We wouldn't need to trouble our pretty little heads about this, except that one of their promotional images sure looks like an AI-slopped version of the album cover for the World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die's 2013 emo-revival classic Whenever, If Ever. TWIABP noticed.
I think a shoe company and store in Paris are using a painting of the Whenever, If Ever album cover for an ad campaign? pic.twitter.com/oxiCh6EELK

For reference, here's the Whenever, If Ever cover
That's the same, right? It definitely looks the same to me. Here's the Broken Arm's image, clear as day as the third image in the carousel.
I don't think anyone is going to get rich off of this, but that doesn't explain why anyone things it's an OK thing to do.
