Happy 2hollis Day to all who celebrate. The hyperpop rapper is back today with his first new music since last year's star, which earned a spot on our list of the best albums of 2025. He's sort of shared songs since then, but only via since-deleted Instagram posts and on SoundCloud under other names. Last month, he sent out a cryptic text to fans, who decoded the message, interpreting it as a new single on July 22. They were right! "Hurt" is out now, and it's the first taste of something bigger.
"Hurt" was first previewed during his Primavera Sound set (which was not without ridiculous controversies). It's dissonant and crookedly catchy, interspersed with screams and vivacious synths, ricocheting between quiet and chaotic. It's a departure from the easily infectious, EDM-indebted sound that was at the core of star, instead flirting with house sensibilities.
