Here's a combination that I, personally did not expect. Nigel Godrich is a British producer best-known for his work with Radiohead and Thom Yorke's various offshoots, though he's also produced big records for people like Beck and IDLES. Dhani Harrison is a British musician best-known for being George Harrison's son, though he's made plenty of music of his own. Apparently, Godrich and Harrison have been friends for a while, and now they've got a new band called Dragonflies.
According to a press release, Godrich and Harrison became close during the pandemic, when Harrison turned to Godrich for advice while working on his 2023 album Innerstanding. Godrich and Harrison eventually started messing around in the studio together, and they clicked hard enough to start Dragonflies. In a press release, Harrison says, "Dragonflies are a symbol of spiritual enlightenment. When Nigel suggested the name, I was like, yeah, sold, done. Whenever I see a dragonfly, it's magical."
Godrich and Harrison made an entire self-titled album under the Dragonflies name. Beck's father David Campbell, a previous Godrich collaborator, contributes some string arrangements. "Slower," the LP's opening track and lead single, is a pretty piece of psychedelic trip-hop with some nice late-'90s vibes.
