The Green Day road trip movie Nimrods, that we've been hearing about for ages, is finally seeming more like a reality. Last month, we got the official trailer, and then a few weeks later we got a new Green Day song, "I'm Never Gonna R.I.P.," featured in the movie and more information about the soundtrack. Today, there was a surprise event promoting Nimrods at the San Diego Comic-Con where Iron Maiden joined Green Day on stage.
The event hosted The Coverups, which is basically Green Day performing a bunch of rock 'n' roll classics that are not their own. This past Monday they played Nirvana's "Drain You," and dedicated it to the late L7 bassist Jennifer Finch, who passed last weekend. During today's performance, Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson joined them onstage to play "All the Young Dudes," the David Bowie-penned hit that Mott the Hoople made famous. Dickinson also featured his take on the song on 1990's Tattooed Millionaire.
