If you've been enjoying music from folk-glitch experimentalists ear and Lockimara, I bet you'd find gash's music enticing. Earlier last month, the Eau Claire avant-rock group announced their album at least you know what you’re laughing at, which is out at the end of September. They released the lead single "good and bad," an enticing collision of sound. Today, they've shared another single from the forthcoming project titled "risking heaven."
"risking heaven" is less collage-based than the preceding single. The new track is also incredibly short, clocking in at just over a minute. It's grounded in bruised vocals and haunted melodies. There's no screaming or brass instrumentation this time, just acoustic guitar, eerie synths, and vocals. “And on my bike at night/ I’m risking heaven for you,” Logan Nyberg sings. It's a gripping vignette of a song.
