Fontaines D.C. are slowly coming back into the fold, ratcheting up the hype along the way. Last weekend they unveiled some new songs at their first show in nearly a year, and now the Dublin rockers have confirmed their fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, is coming soon via XL Recordings. The news follows their headline performance at La Route du Rock in Fort-de-Saint-Père, France, last night, where they brought out Kurt Vile.
Dopamine Chamber does not have an exact release date yet, but on social media Fontaines revealed the title with a video set to "Six Shot Morning," one of the two new songs they debuted in Cádiz, Spain last weekend. A numbered first pressing of the LP is available for 24 hours at their shop. It's $28.03, shipping in "late 2026," and the order page notes that the "number on the LP sleeve will be randomised."
At La Route du Rock, Vile joined Fontaines DC for "Roman Holiday," a song the Philly songwriter and guitarist actually inspired. In a Rolling Stone UK interview promoting Skinty Fia in 2022, Grian Chatten talked about Vile's influence on the single's "easy listening" vibe, which the band used as a kind of Trojan horse to lure listeners in:
It’s easy listening first, through songs like '‘'Roman Holiday.' I’d say that song was quite inspired by Kurt Vile; I saw him play in Croatia two years ago when we were playing there and I envied him. The sun was going down and he was able to stand there and chill out. We spend ten minutes before going on stage slapping each other in the face! I envy someone who can send a text to his kid, go off on stage and then just play really well.
