The Kyoto-born, Chicago-based musician Sen Morimoto has no fixed genre, and they've messed around with things like jazz and rap on past records. This fall, Morimoto will follow their 2023 album Diagnosis and the 2024 companion-piece EP BONK! with a new LP called Time Is On Your Side, and the lead single suggests another stylistic pivot.
Morimoto producer Time Is On Your Side and recorded the LP with Kaina Castillo, Ryan Person, Elijah Bradford, and Brok Mende, all Chicago friends and members of their touring band, backing them up. Lead single "Overthinker" is a shambling acoustic indie-pop single about being trapped in your own head. In the self-directed video, Morimoto hangs out and plays guitar in some sunny woods.
