Dexter Story — the prolific project of Los Angeles-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer Dexter Gordon — already released an album earlier this year called Inner. Now, he's returning to announce its followup T’som, and the lead single "Mama" features Sudan Archives and Kamasi Washington.
T’som translates to "fasting" in Afro-Semitic languages Tigrinya and Amharic, as well as in Arabic, and the album is inspired by the spiritual practice. Along with Sudan Archives and Kamasi Washington, other collaborators include Carlos Niño, Jimetta Rose, and Kibrom Birhane. Hear "Mama" below.
