South Park Creators Apologize For Kendrick Lamar Movie Delay: “We Still Believe In The Project”

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been working on a movie with Kendrick Lamar for a while now. There's been few details about the project, other than the working title for the musical comedy film is Whitney Springs. The release date has been changed a few times, initially slated for July 2025 and then March of this year. Now it's unclear what's actually happening with the whole thing, but the South Park guys are sorry it's taking so long.

Wednesday, Parker and Stone shared a statement for a story published by The Ankler about the anticipated project. “We take full responsibility for the schedule delay of this movie,” Parker and Stone said. “We apologize to our partners at pgLang and Paramount, and we appreciate their patience. South Park and life’s circumstances have gotten in the way, but we still believe in the project.”

The Ankler story also revealed that the film's story "revolves around a historical slave plantation museum in the Midwest and a young Black re-enactor who lashes out at tourists and clashes with the town’s hypocritical, racist mayor, played by Parker." The film also supposedly features unreleased music by Lamar.

Recently, the comedy creators have been busy with other things, like renaming their Emmy-winning show South America — a nod to all the delusional renaming schemes our president is currently fixated on.

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA," they shared on social media earlier this week. "We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount -- a Skydance Capitulation."
