Sour Widows' new record Sigil is going to be good. We know this from the advance singles "Blood In The Grass" and "Lucky Star," the latter of which earned a spot on our list of the 5 best songs of the week. Now, they're back with an alluring slowburner called "Choke Chain."
"In Egyptian mythology, when someone dies, the god Anubis weighs their heart against a feather to determine the fate of their soul — I like to think that when I'm dead, the relationships that caused me hurt will probably feel amusing," Susanna Thomson explains. "It's difficult to talk about the inherent consequences of desire as a woman without projections of cynicism and misogyny. The lyrics say it best."
