Pusha T Joins Gorillaz For “Let Me Out” At Madison Square Garden

Any Gorillaz performance, like any Gorillaz record, tends to include a whole lot of guest performers. Right now, Damon Albarn and his various cartoon associates are touring North American arenas with Little Simz and Deltron 3030. You can be assured that Simz and Del The Funky Homosapien will join Gorillaz during their headlining set, as will touring staples like De La Soul's Posdnous and the Pharcyde's Bootie Brown. Sometimes, a Gorillaz show also includes a surprise or two. You never know when someone like Pusha T might show up.

On Tuesday night, the Gorillaz tour came to New York's Madison Square Garden. Guests at the show included Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Kara Jackson, the Roots' Black Thought, and Cibo Matto's Miho Hatori. And then there was King Push. Back in 2017, Pusha T and Mavis Staples, two members of great Black American family acts, joined Gorillaz on "Let Me Out," a track from their Humanz album. When that song came out, Pusha joined Gorillaz to perform it a ton of times, but then it fell out of the setlist. Last night, Pusha and Gorillaz performed that song for the first time in nine years, with the Harlem Gospel Choir backing them up. They looked very happy to see each other. Watch it happen below.
