Drake has no love for the Grammys. He may not have peed on one of his trophies like Kanye West, but Aubrey Graham has been steering clear of the Recording Academy for years now, and it sounds like that pattern will continue in 2027.
Although he released three albums this year (all on the same day), Drake has not submitted any of his music for Grammy consideration, Billboard reports: not Iceman, Habibti, Maid Of Honour, or any of the songs therein. Drake tipped us off to these plans within one of those songs. On “Make Them Know,” the final track on Iceman, he raps, "This album, I’m never submittin’ it."
Drake has a long history of disdain for Music's Biggest Night. In 2020, when the Recording Academy snubbed Drake's collaborator-turned-rival the Weeknd following a massively successful After Hours album cycle, inspiring the Weeknd to dub the Grammy's "corrupt," Drake was among those who spoke out against the institution. "I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards," he wrote, "and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after."
A year later, Drake withdrew his 2022 Grammy nominations. He opted not to submit his music in 2023, submitted his 21 Savage collab Her Loss in 2024 (though possibly just for 21 Savage's benefit), then skipped submitting again in 2025 and 2026. Before beginning his boycott, he won four Grammys, and he added a fifth in 2023 through his appearance on Future's "Wait For U." He's been nominated 55 times, including several appearances on other artists' songs since his boycott began.
After decades with CBS, the Grammys are moving to ABC, Hulu, and Disney+ starting in 2027. This year's ceremony is set for Sunday, Feb. 7, 2027. Nominations will be announced on Nov. 16. K-pop stars BTS and Stray Kids are also boycotting, just as the Grammys introduce the K-pop-focused category Best Asian Pop Music Performance.
