The War On Drugs seem to be finally building towards a new album cycle, but for now we don't have any information about the follow-up to 2021's I Don't Live Here Anymore. What we can tell you about are two new double albums from War On Drugs member Robbie Bennett.

On Dec. 11, Bennett will simultaneously release Steloken and Circulation, both following up his 2020 debut album Permanent World. The two albums were reportedly rooted in piano and classical counterpoint but developed on the keyboard rig Bennett uses with the War On Drugs, which involves equipment like an Oberheim OB-X8 synthesizer, a Fender Rhodes, and a Soma Terra, "a polyphonic microtonal synthesizer with a gyroscope and pressure-sensitive sensors." Per Bennett, "I want the music to be like you’re walking through an unfamiliar place you want to keep exploring and never have to circle back to where you started."

You can hear that impulse in two tracks shared this week, "Sister" from Steloken and "The Light On Your Face" from Circulation. Check them out below.

Steloken and Circulation are out 12/11 on American Dreams.
